Dominic Rains Biography
Dominic Rains is an Iranian-American actor who is best known for his roles in independent films including The Taqwacores (2010), and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014), as well as his role as Dr. Crockett Marcel in Chicago Med. He is also known for playing the main antagonist in the first part of the fifth season of Marvel’s Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Rains started his career as an actor in 2003 when he appeared in the television film Saving Jessica Lynch. He then landed a role on the famous series 24 in 2005, later making his feature debut film in 2006 when he starred as Hamad in the film Poet’s War.
Rains started his acting career in the well-known television movie, Saving Jessica Lynch in 2003. He later appeared in 2006 in the popular TV movie, Flight 93. His next appearance was as Dr. Leo Julian in SOAPnet’s General Hospital: Night Shift, a 13-episode prime-time spin-off of the ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital.
Following his role in General Hospital, Rains has continued to appear in various television series including, 24, including Flash Forward, Burn Notice, NCIS, Cane, and Anger Management.
In addition, in 2010, Dominic gained recognition for his role in The Taqwacores based on a 2004 novel by, Michael Muhammad Knight, an American convert to Islam. His role was praised by the New York Times and NBC reviewed his role as “reminiscent of Adrien Brody’s career-launching turn in Summer of Sam. In the role, Rains won an award for best actor at the Festival de Cine Internacional de Ourense International Film Festival.

In late 2010, Dominic started filming and starring in the lead role in Exodus Pictures’ supernatural thriller Jinn. The film debuted nationwide in April 2014. Dominic also played Walker, a young automotive designer from Detroit who uncovers an ancient secret that threatens to wipe out his entire family.
Moreover, Rains appeared as Saeed in the Sundance Film Festival horror film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. After acclaimed praise by critics after its debut, the film was acquired by Kino Lorber for mainstream US distribution and released in late 2014.
In 2019, Dominic started featuring in the NBC medical drama Chicago Med in the fifth season as Dr. Crockett Marcel, a new trauma surgeon in the hospital.
Besides his acting career, Rains is active in the Los Angeles theater community and is a member of the Los Angeles-based Elephant Theatre Company.
