Ed Quinn is an American actor, model, and musician. He is well known for having appeared in several television shows on a regular basis, including 2 Broke Girls, Mistresses, and One Day at a Time. He played President Hunter Franklin in the BET prime-time series “The Oval” starting in 2019. Prior to that, he appeared in the Syfy fantasy series Eureka from 2006 to 2012.

Quinn was born in Berkeley, California. He graduated from St. Mary’s College High School there and afterward enrolled at the Berkeley campus of the University of California, from which he earned a bachelor’s degree in history in 1991. While attending Berkeley, Ed was an Alpa Delta Phi brother. He played rugby for California as well.

Ed worked as a model in Paris, Barcelona, and Milan after receiving his degree, and he was cast in more than 35 international television commercials. He earned the lead part of Finn in The WB summer series Young Americans in 2000 after returning to the US. Later, he appeared in repeat episodes of CSI: NY and Jack & Jill. He made his acting debut in the low-budget Harvey Keitel movie Beeper in 2002. He then had an appearance in the direct-to-video sequel Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004). Quinn played Nathan Stark in the Syfy series Eureka from 2006 to 2008, then he returned to the role once in 2010.

Quinn joined the Mistresses cast on the ABC program in 2015. He appeared in the final two seasons of the CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls from 2016 to 2017. Quinn appeared in the Netflix series One Day at a Time on a regular basis in 2018. For the fourth season in 2020, One Day at a Time moved to Pop (also shown on TV Land and Logo), and Quinn’s role was as Max Ferraro. Quinn was cast as the fictional President Hunter Franklin in Tyler Perry’s prime-time soap drama The Oval in 2019.

Ed also participated in the Los Angeles bands Mad Theory and Scattergood, which earned him a recording contract and studied with Joe Satriani. He played lead and rhythm guitar as well as singing for the defunct band, ScatterGood. Quinn recently released his first solo demo CD, titled Quinn, which included the songs “Because of You,” “Cause I Do,” and “We Had It Made,” all of which were produced by Chris Lloyd, a friend of Quinn’s. 2013 saw the release of a second EP with five songs.
