Elizabeth Peterson Biography
Elizabeth Peterson is a veteran American journalist currently working as a morning news anchor at TV6 since August 2020. She rejoined the station after her first service as a reporter and anchor for TV6 News. Most recently, Peterson worked as a news producer and host for WNMU.
Elizabeth, who is originally from the Grand Rapids region, has resided in the Upper Peninsula for almost 18 years. Elizabeth has worked in the television industry since she was a child. Her grandmother, mother, and aunt all worked for television stations around the country in various capacities. Watching them, listening to their experiences, and spending so much time behind the scenes inspired her to seek a career in broadcast journalism.
Elizabeth attended Michigan State University, where she studied and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Journalism and Related Programs.
From 2005 through 2009, Elizabeth worked as a reporter and anchor for TV6’s Early News and News Tonight. She was also a morning producer and the first producer and anchor for FOX UP News at one point.

Elizabeth has worked as the executive director of the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Chamber of Commerce, sales manager for Northern Michigan University’s Northern Center, and most recently as a producer and host for WNMU since her initial stint at TV6.
Elizabeth has had the good fortune to work with some incredible people over the years, people who have helped her gain a better understanding of the Upper Peninsula and its people.
She is proud to return back and bring those experiences back to TV6 and use them to help her in her new role as morning anchor. She has always valued news, but it has never felt more vital as it does today.
Peterson enjoys trekking, hiking, traveling, and spending as much time as she can with her family and friends exploring the outdoors.
