Ellison Barber is an American journalist and correspondent currently working for NBC News based in New York. She contributes to NBC News, MSNBC, and NBC News Now. In April 2017, she began working with Fox, before Ellison worked as the main assignment reporter. She is also a Prince George’s County Bureau affiliate.

In 2019, Ellison was caught in a shootout In Colombia. In 2019, she traveled to Venezuela to cover its humanitarian crisis as hundreds were fleeing to Colombia.
When Barber posted a video of the shootout to Instagram, she wrote, “A gang-like militia fires hundreds of shots in an area filled with Venezuelan migrants.”

Ellison Barber Cancer | Surgery
Ellison admitted that before she got a call from her doctor with the bad news that she had a cancerous spot on her back, she never knew how necessary it was to protect her skin. Though her doctor had removed it in case the cells had already dispersed, she was advised to go through another operation to get more skin removed. She admits that while skin cancer is treatable, the news made her worry.
She imagined what would have happened if she had overlooked it or if it hadn’t been caught by her doctor in time. The next day, Ellison went to the doctor and had more skin removed, needing 50 stitches. When her doctor told her that the contaminated cells had not spread, she later got a clean bill of health. The big scar that has been left behind still reminds her to take care of and protect her skin. A photo was tweeted by Ellison claiming that only 1 percent of skin cancer is due to melanoma. The tweet was followed by a message to her fans to always use sunscreen, stop tanning beds, and go for daily skin tests.
