Emily Chang Biography
Emily Chang is an American Broadcast journalist, executive producer, and author who is the anchor and executive producer of Bloomberg Technology. Bloomberg Technology is a daily TV show focused on global technology where she speaks to top executives, investors, and entrepreneurs. In relation to her being an author, Chang is the author of Brotopia: Breaking Up the Boys’ Club of Silicon Valley. The book alleges sexism and gender inequality in the tech industry.
Born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, she attended and graduated from the Punahou School in 1998. Later in 2002, she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Harvard University.
Prior to joining CNN in 2007, she served as a reporter at KNSD, NBC’s affiliate in San Diego, California. While there, she won five regional Emmy Awards. Most notably, she began her career as a news producer at NBC in New York. Eventually, she joined CNN in 2007 as an international correspondent based in Beijing and London. She however left CNN in 2010.

While in Beijing, she reported on a wide range of stories. These stories include the 2008 Beijing Olympics, China’s economic transformation and its environmental consequences, the 2008 South China floods, and the aftermath of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, among other stories that hit international headlines.
Furthermore, while in London, she covered international news for CNN’s American Morning. She covered European and international events. She even had a one-on-one interview with Benazir Bhutto, former prime minister of Pakistan. This interview took place weeks before her assassination.
After leaving CNN in 2010, she joined Bloomberg Television in the same year. On February 28, 2011, she was made anchor of Bloomberg West. Later in October 2016, the show was named Bloomberg Technology. She has interviewed people like Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sherly Sanberg, and Apple CEO Tim Cook, among others.
Besides this, she is also the host of the Bloomberg Television interview series, Studio 1.0. In the show, she interviewed Andreessen Horowitz co-founder Marc Andreessen, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, among others.
