Emily Kaplan is an American journalist who is currently working as an NHL reporter for ESPN. Kaplan joins ESPN from “Sports Illustrated” changing from covering football to covering Hockey. She joined ESPN in 2017.
Kaplan attended Montclair Highschool from 2005 to 2009. Later on, she attended the Bellisario College of Communication at Pennsylvania State University from 2009-2013 and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism.
During her stay at the Pennsylvania State University, she worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer as a Penna State football reporter from 2012 to 2013. She was also a stringer for the Associated Press from 2010-2013. In 2014, she joined the ranks of Sports Illustrated as a staff writer, where she continued covering college football and the National Football League.
At Sports Illustrated, she worked for sportswriter Peter King. In addition, she was on several road trips for the job, such as a Superbowl and two training camps. In 2017, she left Sports Illustrated and joined ESPN, changing from covering football to covering hockey. As of 2020, she is working as an NHL reporter for ESPN.
