Eric Holthaus Biography
Eric Holthaus is an American Meteorologist currently serving as a climate change journalist for his own weather service called Currently. Prior to his current work, Eric worked as the main writer of The Correspondent for Grist, Slate and The Wall Street Journal. He grew even more popular online for his various articles on Global Climate Change and other weather-related topics. Eric is also the author of the famous and bestselling climate change book called The Future Earth. In 2022, Eric also became known for launching a popular safe social media service based on climate change protection alongside Abbie Veitch called Project Mushroom.
Holthaus was born and brought up in Kansas City, USA to a working-class family of Italian-American descent. He grew up as an intelligent kid who developed a passion to pursue climate after their home was hit by Hurricane Sandy. Eric passed his high school studies at a local private school based in Kansas. He then graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Saint Louis University in 2003. Eric then advanced his studies and earned his Masters’s degree in Climate and Society from Columbia University. Holthaus also holds a Ph.D. degree in Geography and Development from the University of Arizona.
Eric then began his career in meteorology by writing about Hurricane Sandy in form of a substantial weather report following. He then advised various groups and individuals on coping with various climate changes. One of these groups included the Ethiopian Subsistence farmers group and other international groups. However, Eric quit his group work because his various air trips were some of the factors contributing to climate change.
Holthaus then focused his energy on co-founding and launching the Warm Regards Podcast alongside Andy Revkin. He also worked as the writer of The Correspondent on The Wall Street Journal until he left in 2020. From there, Eric became a proponent of the Green New Deal and launched his book The Future Erath the same year he left The Correspondent. He has now settled in Minnesota with his wife and a son.
