Ezekiel Odero is a famous Kenyan pastor known for his excellent preaching style and leadership in the Christian ministry. Odero is the founder of the New Life Prayer Church located in Mombasa, Kenya. This church has grown significantly under his leadership and attracts an unusually large number of congregants from various parts of the region.
Ezekiel was born and raised in a humble home on Nguthe Island, west of Rusinga Island in Lake Victoria. As for his education, Odero attended Ngothe Island Primary School before later joining Yeye Primary School. After completion of primary school, he joined Miwani High School in Chemelil, Kisumu County. Moreover, after graduating high school, he joined Mombasa Polytechnic to pursue a career in chemical processing technology.
Moreover, Pastor Ezekiel began his evangelism journey in the early 2000s, and over the years, he has established and is one of the leading pastors in Kenya. Under his leadership, New Life Prayer Church has witnessed significant growth and has built another branch in Mavueni, Mombasa. However, there were controversies where Odero was confirmed to be linked to the Malindi cult and its leader, Paul Nthenge Mackenzie. This was whereby 110 killings and mass starvation were committed by the cult.
Furthermore, due to this controversy, on August 18, the Registrar of the Societies in Kenya deregistered Ezekiel’s church, Newlife Prayer Centre. This was due to the involvement with the Shakahola cult. Another church affected was the Good News International Ministries.
