Ginger Chan Biography
Ginger Chan is an American journalist, currently working as helicopter traffic and news reporter at KTLA 5 News in Los Angeles since 2008. She also reports for KIIS-FM and is the weekend news anchor for KFI-Am, both in Los Angeles. A native of Angelino, Ginger graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in broadcast journalism and political science.
Before she joined KTLA, Ginger worked at KIIS-FM, reporting both the traffic and covering the news as a fill-in for Ellen K. Chan spent both her mornings and afternoons riding over the skies of Southern California flying in a Cessna 172 covering traffic for shows on KLAC-AM, working with Fred Roggin, T.J. Simers, Petros Papadakis, and Matt “Money” Smith.
In addition to her traffic duties, Chan anchored the weekend news for the top-rated talk radio station, KFI-AM. Moreover, she worked as a radio personality, “jockeying” for California stations in Redlands, Bakersfield, and San Diego. Her broadcast experience entails working as a TV anchor and reporter in Orange County and in Huntsville, Ala., where she chased tornadoes and went on her first helicopter ride with the sheriff’s department.
Between radio and television, you can easily find Chan on the radio every weekday morning. Currently, she is part of the “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest” team on KIIS-FM, the station where she got her start as an intern while in college.
Chan joined the KTLA family in March 2018 as the traffic and news reporter from the helicopter, Sky5. Through this, she helps commuters steer clear of collisions and construction projects every weekday morning from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m.
