Ginger Zee Biography
Ginger Renee Colonomos known by her alias Ginger Zee, is an American television personality. Zee is the chief meteorologist for ABC News. She is best known as the lead weather presenter on ABC’s Good Morning America, she also appeared on the Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers and on ABC World News and Nightline.
Ginger was born in Orange and grew up in California and Michigan. She graduated from Rockford High School in Rockford, Michigan, and went on to attend Valparaiso University in Indiana. Ginger graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in meteorology, fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a meteorologist, which was inspired by a waterspout she saw on Lake Michigan. Soon after graduating, Zee began her career at WLAV FM/ WXMI in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Afterward, she worked at WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she was part of Storm Team 8, also covering the environment, science, and the impact of weather throughout West Michigan. From 2003-2005, Zee worked at WEYI NBC 25 in Flint.

Prior to joining ABC News, she was a meteorologist at NBC station WMAQ-Channel 5 in Chicago from 2006-2011, also filling in for several NBC and MSNBC News programs. Moreover, Zee is the Chief Meteorologist for Good Morning America and weather editor for ABC News, succeeding Sam Champion, who took a job with The Weather Channel. Since joining ABC News, Zee has covered extensively stories of weather events and dozens of historic storms. She has devastated Jersey Shore during Hurricane Sandy, the Colorado floods, and wildfires, and covered the aftermath of tornados in Moore and El Reno, Oklahoma. In 2016, Zee covered Hurricane Matthew and its path along the east coast.
Apart from being a presenter, Ginger has also been a competitor in an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy! against Bellamy Young, who won, and Josh Gad. She also took part in season 22 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars where she was paired with professional dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy. The couple finished in third place behind Paige VanZandt in second and Nyle DiMarco in first. Furthermore, Zee is also a producer and actress, known for playing in movies like Younger (2015), Famous in Love (2017), and Miles from Tomorrowland (2015).
