Shum was born in Limon Costa Rica to Chinese Immigrants but he was raised in San Francisco, California. Therefore, he grew up learning how to fluently speak Spanish and Cantonese. Harry also grew up as a very talented kid who enjoyed dancing and performing from a very young age. He studied at San Luis Obispo County but he graduated from Arroyo Grande High School back in 2000.
