Ian McShane Biography
Ian McShane is an English actor, producer, and director who is famous for his roles in films like Lovejoy, Deadwood, and American Gods (2017-2021). He won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for the original series of Deadwood. In addition, he received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Raised in Davyhulme, Lancashire, he attended Stretford Grammer School. He then studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art alongside Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt. Ian went on to play Satan in the York Mystery Plays in 1963.
Ian’s film roles include Captain Hook in Shrek the Third (2007), Tai Lung in Kung Fu Panda (2008), Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), and Winston Scott in the John Wick film series (2014–present). Furthermore, he was cast as Ray in Season 6 of Game of Thrones.
Besides all this, he has narrated the opening teases for each round of ESPN’s coverage of The Open Championship. In 2012, Ian has a guest role for two episodes as Murder Santa, in the second season of American Horror Story.
In addition, he announced on April 20, 2017, that a script for a two-hour Deadwood movie had been submitted by David Milch and that the film was as close as ever to happening Deadwood: The Movie was released on May 2019. With this, the series Deadwood was concluded.
