Jason Jordan Segel is a famous American actor, and comedian, who is known for his role as Marshall Eriksen in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. As a director and producer, he is recognized for his collaboration with Judd Apatow in the TV series Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, in which he starred.
Jordan was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, United States. He attended school at St. Matthew’s Parish School in Pacific Palisades and later after enrolled at Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles. While there, he played in several plays at the Palisades Playhouse. He made his first film in 1999 after appearing in the comedy-drama series Freaks and Geeks portraying Nick Andopolis.
Thereafter, Segel appeared in recurring roles on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Neil Jansen and on Undeclared as Eric. He gain recognition after portraying the character role of Marshall Eriksen in the TV sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’. The show became highly successful and ran for nine seasons before winding up in 2014.
Furthermore, Jason also starred in films like Slackers, SLC Punk!, The Good Humor Man, Dead Man on Campus, and Knocked Up. On top of that, he also appeared in the leading role in the series Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which he wrote and produced by his partner Apatow. Prior to that, he performed songs in films like “Dracula’s Lament” and in the comedy Get Him to the Greek. In 2010, he voiced Gru’s arch-rival Vector in Universal’s CGI animated film, Despicable Me. That same year, Jordan appeared in a fantasy comedy film Gulliver’s Travels directed by Rob Letterman.
Later on, Segel received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Male Lead after he starred in the film The End of the Tour. After that, he and Kirsten Miller released the first novel series entitled Nightmare and their first novel called Otherworld. In 2019, Segel starred in Our Friend based on Matthew Teague’s 2015 essay “The Friend” and in the drama TV series Dispatches from Elsewhere.
