He began his broadcasting journey at the age of 14 years at WJRZ in Toms Rivers while attending Central Regional High School in Bayville, New Jersey. Jay continued on to host radio shows in Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Grand Rapids, and finally Detroit in 1999
