Jessica Hafner Biography
Jessica Hafner is an American Meteorologist who is currently working as a Chief Meteorologist at ABC17 Stormtrack Weather. She returned to ABC17 News after three years at KSDK-TV in St. Louis, where she was a meteorologist and fill-in traffic anchor.
During her time at KSDK, she visited more than 75 schools in Missouri and Illinois to speak to students about weather safety and broadcast meteorology. Before making the move east, she worked under former ABC17 Stormtrack Chief Meteorologist Sharon Ray as the midday meteorologist and Digital Content Director from 2014 to 2016.
Most notably, she started her career in Mid-Missouri at KRCG in 2012 as the weekend meteorologist and general assignment reporter. Before graduating with a meteorology degree from Northern Illinois University, she was an intern at the National Weather Service in Lincoln, Illinois. In addition, she was part of a storm-chasing course at the College of Dupage in 2011.
She earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorology designation from the American Meteorological Society in 2015. She has been nominated twice for a Mid-America Regional Emmy Award for her work on the anniversary of the Great Flood of 1993. Hafner is happy to be back in Mid-Missouri with her husband and two dogs, who love exploring the trails and state parks around the area.
