Joe Biden is an American politician born as Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. He is known for serving as the 47th vice president of the United States from 2007-2017. Formerly, Biden represented Delaware in the United States Senate for the period ranging from 1973-2009.
Being a member of the Democratic party, Joe has come out to vie as the Democratic presidential nominee for the 2020 elections. He has furthermore chosen his running mate Kamala Harris. Biden will be running against the incubent president, Donald Trump.
Born and raised in Scranton, Pennsyvania later extending to New Castle County, Delaware. He joined the University of Delaware after his Bachelor in Law accreditation from Syracuse University.
Biden then started off as a lawyerin 1969, and got elected to the New Castle County Council a year later. In 1972, he was elected to the United States from Delaware in 1972. This mapped him as the 6th youngest senator in American history.
He went on serving as the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. While in the seat, Biden opposed the Gulf war while advocating for the U.S and NATO intervention in the Bosnian War. From 1987-1995, he served as the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, on this seat, Biden dealt with issues related to drug policy, crime prevention, and civil liberties.
Furthermore, he led to the passing of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act not forgetting the Violence Against Women Act. Thereafter, he was re-elected 6 times to the United States Senate becoming the 4th most senior senator. This was after he resigned after winning the Vice Presidency alongside Barack Obama in 2008. The duo was yet re-elected in the 2012 presidential election.
