Joel Brown Biography
Joel Brown is an American journalist currently working as an anchor on the 4 p.m. evening edition of ABC11-WTVD Eyewitness News. You can also catch his live reports from around the Triangle at 11 p.m.
Prior to joining The Eyewitness News Team, Brown served as the Washington-based correspondent for CBS NewsPath, the network’s affiliate service.
Joel worked for almost four years covering politics from the White House and Capitol Hill. In addition, he traveled the country following national news stories, including days on the road covering the historic 2008 presidential election. He was also live at Kennedy Space Center reporting on the final launch of NASA’s space shuttle program.
Moreover, Brown worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor for WSVN, Miami’s innovative Fox affiliate, for 3 years in South Florida. Joel’s “break-out” story came in 2005, covering the minute-by-minute information of the Terri Schiavo “right to die” case. Similarly, he also got the opportunity to cover his share of tropical weather, including the 2005 hurricane season, which was the busiest in history.
Prior to Miami, Brown kicked off his career in television news at KETK, the NBC affiliate in Tyler, TX. When he left KETK, he was the station’s 5:00 anchor and education beat reporter.
