John Gregory Biography
John Gregory is an American journalist who is currently working as a general assignment reporter and weekend morning co-anchor for ABC7 Eyewitness News who joined the station in 2000. Originally from New York, his family moved to San Diego when he was a teenager. Following this, he graduated from San Diego State University with a political science degree.
He got his first job at KYMA in Yuma, Arizona, where he learned to anchor, produce, shoot and edit his own stories. Later on, he moved to KTNV in Las Vegas, Nevada as a weekend anchor and reporter. He then went back to San Diego for seven years as a reporter at KNSD before joining ABC7.
Throughout his career journey, he has covered many stories most of which hit the headlines. He covered the 2000 Democratic National Convention for ABC7 Eyewitness News. During the controversial election that followed, he reported live from Washington, DC as the court generated by the election results were heard by the Supreme Court.
Following the September 11 terrorist attacks. he joined the California National Guard troops as they traveled to the Middle East on a mission to guard and protect US military installations. In addition, he was awarded an Emmy in 1995 for his coverage of the Tank Rampage in San Diego and in 1996 for the Harmony Grove Wildfires in San Diego.
