Jon Shainman is an American broadcast journalist best known for working as the morning news anchor and reporter for WPTV/WFLX News based in West Palm, Beach, Florida. Before WPTV, Jon spent several years working as a correspondent for WPBF News from early 1998 to 2009. He has a well-reputed long-running career as a hardworking journalist nationally recognized delivering the best news coverage like the Presidential elections of 2009 and giving back-to-back news coverage of the 2004 and 2005 natural calamities.
Born and raised in the suburbs of Ossining, New York. Jon developed a passion for broadcasting when he was nine years old. He even used his brother as an on-the-scene eyewitness while they played in their makeshift broadcasting station throughout middle school. Jon even hosted his own music segment on an on-school radio station while he was attending a private high school situated in his hometown. He then enrolled at Northwestern University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio and broadcast journalism.
Shainman began his career officially by working as a news anchor for WGMD FM based in Rehoboth in 1989 immediately after his college graduation. At the station, he developed experience in covering various news stories and conducting various interviews with famous guests like politicians and businessmen. In 1993, Jon left WGMD News and joined WBOC News in Salisbury, Dover as a news anchor and reporter. His most famous reports included giving extensive coverage of different Aviation disasters, and political events among other general news topics. By this time, Jon had made a name for himself as a qualified and credible broadcast journalist. Therefore, Jon received an offer from WPTV to work as a full-time news anchor and reporter in 2009. As of 2023, Jon has been working for WPTV for almost fourteen years.
