Jonathan Capehart is an American journalist and television personality who is currently working for the Washington Post. He writes for The Washington Post’s Postpartisan blog as well as is the host of The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart on MSNBC.
Previously, he was a researcher for NBC’s Today Show. He also worked for the New York Daily News, serving as a member of its editorial board from 1993 to 2000. During his hiring, Capehart was the youngest-ever member of that newspaper’s editorial board. Unfortunately, he left the Daily News in 2000, for Bloomberg News.
Moreover, he advised and wrote speeches for Michael Bloomberg during Bloomberg’s 2001 run for the mayorship of New York City. In 2001, he returned to the NYDN, working as a deputy editor of the editorial page until 2004. Jonathan joined the global public relations company Hill & Knowlton in December 2004 as a Senior Vise President and Counselor of Public Affairs. Moreover, Capehart joined the staff of The Washington Post as a journalist and member of the editorial board in 2007.

On December 13, 2020, Capehart hosted the premiere episode of The Sunday Show on MSNBC. Additionally, in January 2021, he replaced Mark Shields in the Friday political commentary segment on PBS Newshour.
Jonathan completed his high school education level at Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School. Later on, he joined Carleton College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.
