Judy Wang Biography
Judy Wang is an American news anchor for the CLTV weekend morning news. During the week, she reports general assignment stories for CLTV, the WGN Morning News, and WGN Midday News. Judy joined WGN-TV in August 2009 after working for CLTV in May 1995.
A San Francisco native, Wang attended Glenbrook South High School in Glenview until she graduated in 1984. She then joined the University of Missouri School of Journalism, graduating in 1984. In 1985, Judy spent one summer studying at Tamkung University in Taiwan.
She has been an anchor/reporter at KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, WAOW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin, WTZH-TV in Meridian, Mississippi, and KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri. Moreover, before she started her television career, Judy studied ballet, tap, and jazz.
Wang’s 1997 documentary “Gina’s Journey”, about a teen girl’s battle with aids, won CLTV second-place honors from the National Press Photographers Association for Best Documentary. This was the first CLTV’s national award. She hosted five of CLTV’s “Community of Cultures” programs in honor of Asian-American Heritage Month. Judy is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association and the Radio-Television News Directors Association.
Wang enjoys Pilates, shopping, Broadway shows, and opera. She has served as an emcee for many charity fundraisers and as the grand marshal for Chicago’s Chinese New Year parade. In addition, she serves on the advisory board of the Chinese American Service League– the Midwest’s largest social service agency serving Asian Americans.
