Julia Macfarlane is a British-Indonesian journalist currently working for ABC News, covering maximum news of world affairs in the ABC Network. She joined ABC in January 2018 where she is currently a London-based reporter covering all the news of global affairs.
Macfarlane started her career as a freelance photojournalist in Indonesia, her home country. She then relocated to Beirut, Lebanon to work for the BBC News bureau. While at BBC, Julia reported on the Syrian Refugee Crisis, the Israel-Hamas war of 2014 in Gaza, the EU migration crisis, and national and local stories for BBC news. Moreover, she worked as a producer on the flagship newscast, the BBC News at Six & Ten, covering the 2015 Brexit general election and referendum.
