Karen Laine is a renowned former defense attorney, television personality and businesswoman who is best known for her appearance in the television shows Good Bones and Brother Vs. Brother.
Born and raised In Richmond, Indiana, Karen attended a local high school and later joined the University of Indiana to study Law. She passed her bar exams well and immediately started practicing law. In the course of her career, Laine became a city attorney and eventually began venturing into the business of renovating homes.
Karen and her daughter Mina Starsiak established a business called Two Chicks and a Hammer, Inc. after realizing the profits on the sale of Mina’s house in 2018 which Laine renovated. After the company was up and running the duo started running their home renovating show called Good Bones. The cast member of the show includes Mina and her mother Karen, Karen’s son Tad Starsiak, Cory Miller, and Austin Aynes among others.
The show has also been featured in other reality television shows including Brother vs. Brother, in which she served as a judge. She also appeared in the show Building Brady. Karen announced her retirement from Two Chicks and a Hammer on October 4, 2019. However, she will still feature in the series while focusing more on DIY projects than whole-home renovations.
