Keith Olbermann Biography
Keith Olbermann is an American journalist who began his career as a play-by-play announcer for WHTR while he was still a high school student. He joined Cornell University at the age of 16 and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications.
After graduating, he joined UPI, and then RKO and New York’s WNEW until CNN found him in 1981. Olbermann became a sports anchor in Boston at WCVB-TV in 1984. Later on, he joined KTLA-TV and then moved to KCBS-TV. While in California, Keith received 11 Golden Mike Awards for Best Sportscaster and Best Sportscast. He was also voted Sportscaster of the Year three times.
In 1992, he was part of the team that launched ESPN Radio. Together with Dan Patrick, they worked together until 1997 on what was to become his “signature” post at ESPN SportsCenter. After here, he moved to MSNBC, where he hosted “The Big Show with Keith Olbermann”. Furthermore, he worked for fox as a host of the station’s Saturday pregame baseball studio show.
However, he left Fox in 2001 and joined ABC Radio. After this, Keith worked for numerous other stations. Currently, he is a podcast host, hosting Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Olbermann is also an avid baseball historian who has a collection of at least 35, 000 baseball cards.
