Kerry Charles Biography
Kerry Charles is an American Emmy Award-winning News anchor and reporter currently working for NBC4 since joining the station in June 2020. Charles joined the station from Fox 5 Atlanta, WAGA-TV where he served as an anchor and reporter. He is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Born and raised in Central Ohio, Kerry attended Columbus City Schools and later graduated from Linden-McKinley High School. He then joined the University of Cincinnati and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.
His passion for broadcasting started at an early age. While attending Crestview Middle School, Kerry hosted Kids Sundae, the weekly radio program aired at WCNBE 90.5FM. Moreover, he was a young anchor and reporter for the Kids News Network, which aired Saturday mornings in Columbus.
After college, Charles started his broadcast career at Fox 19 WXIX as a Newscast/Special Projects Producer. After working for two years, he moved to WSYX/WTTE where he held the same roles for the next two years until 2009.

In April 2009, Kerry joined KTAL-TV in Shreveport, Louisiana Area to work as a reporter and fill-in anchor. After spending 2 years at the station, Charles landed a new job at WGHP in Greensboro, North Carolina Area where he worked as an anchor.
From WGHP, Kerry moved to FOX 5 Atlanta, WAGA-TV to work as an anchor and reporter. He anchored weekend editions of FOX News at 6 & 10p, and FOX 5 NewsEdge at 11. Moreover, Charles served as a fill-in anchor for all weekday newscasts.
Currently, Charles works at NBC4, and WCMH-TV as an anchor of the weeknight editions of NBC4 at 6 PM, 7 PM, and 11 PM.
Charles believes in giving back to the community. When he is not visiting local students and organizations, Kerry is busy serving on boards for St. Stephen’s Community House and the Neighborhood Design Center. He further engages in service projects through memberships with Phi Beta Sigma and the National Association of Black Journalists.
An Emmy Award winner, Charles is a member of the Morehouse College MLK College of Ministers and Laity (2018).n 2014, the University of Cincinnati named Kerry a Communication Alumni Champion.
