Kim Hawthorne is an American actress who began her acting career appearing on Broadway and daytime soap operas. She later landed supportive roles in the crime dramas and was a cast regular cast member in the CBS Television police drama, Da Vinci’s Inquest from 2002 to 2005. In addition, Hawthorne starred as Kerissa Greenleaf in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series, Greenleaf from 2016 to 2020.
Born in Jersey City, she attended and graduated from Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in musical theatre. After graduating, she began working on stage, making her professional theatre debut at the Alliance Theatre. She later moved to New York City in the mid-1990s.
Kim made her first screen appearance in an episode of the NBC drama series. I’ll Fly Away. She went on to replace Mitchelle Hurd in the role of Dana Kramer on the NBC soap opera, Another World. In addition, she had a supporting role in the Canadian drama series Da Vinci’s Inquest. Kim was cast as one of the leads in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series, Greenleaf in 2015. The series ended in 2020 after 5 seasons.
