Kristi Capel Biography
Kristi Capel is an American journalist who works as a newscaster for FOX 8. Capel began her television career as a co-anchor and TV reporter for KSPR Springfield 33 News, an affiliate of ABC. During much of 2006, Capel also worked as a radio personality at 99 Hit FM and 1340 AM KADI.
Capel received her education at the Heritage School, a church school associated with the Assemblies of God, formerly known as the World Assemblies of God. She later graduated with a degree in 2001. Eventually, through a tennis scholarship, she attended Evangelical University. There, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting and Public Relations in 2005.
In 2005, she won the US pageant for Miss Missouri. Prior to that, she had completed the last year in the top 15 of the Miss Kentucky USA pageant. In the Miss United States pageant held in Baltimore in 2006, she represented Missouri. She wasn’t at the top, sadly.

Kristi moved to Missouri in 2001 to attend Evangel University on a volleyball scholarship, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast and Communication as well as Public Relations. After graduating from college, she has crowned Miss Missouri USA in 2006, and she had the honor of representing Missouri at the 2006 Miss USA Pageant.
Kristi completed a second internship at KSPR News in Springfield, Missouri, where she began her first job as a reporter during her senior year. She began her weather career as a weekend weather anchor at KSPR after covering fires, local events, and accidents for a short time because they were in desperate need of one. She later became a morning and lunchtime meteorologist in Northeast and Central Pennsylvania.
Kristi joined Fox 8 News Cast in January 2011 and started serving as a Morning News Anchor replacing Tracy McCool who moved to and the 5 PM News in the evening at Fox 8 still. She serves alongside Wayne Dawson and Stefani Schaefer to anchor the morning news.
She also served for 2 years at WJW-TV as a Host of New Day Cleveland from January 2012 to Mar 2014. Prior to joining Fox 8, she worked at WBRE-TV and WYOU-TV as a Morning Show Weather Anchor for three years from December 2008 to December 2011.
She has also worked as a Radio Personality at two defined radio stations which include 99 Hit FM which is a Contemporary Christian Music Radio station and 1340 AM KADI which is a conservative talk radio station.
She was also named one of “The Time Leader’s 40 Under Forty,” a group of outstanding people from Northeast and Central Pennsylvania who have made a difference in their careers and communities.
