Kristi Leigh Biography
Kristi Leigh is an Award-winning American journalist currently working as the main anchor for WTOL news. She joined the station back in 2017 as Jerry Anderson’s co-anchor at 5, 6, and 11 p.m. Leigh is a Maumee native and she is privileged to be working in the Toledo market because she grew up right outside of it.
After graduating from Maumee High School in 2000, Leigh joined Owens Community College. She then transferred to Bowling Green State University where she studied Broadcast Journalism and received high honors. Kristi graduated magna cum laude with a 4.0 grade point average when she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2007. While at BGSU, Leigh was honored as the Outstanding Broadcast Student and received awards for her work with the BG 24 News.
Moreover, Kristi also studied business during college to complement her work in the financial industry. She earned both the Series 7 and Series 66 credentials so she could work as an investment advisor representative for Generations Financial Group.
Working in the financial industry, along with her high school and college training, enabled Leigh to prepare for a career in television broadcast. Soon after finishing her degree at BGSU, she served for WTOS (the CW network) in Toledo. While there, she gained experience as a host and emcee. Kristi Leigh got her first television broadcasting job in 2008 with WUPW-FOX 36 in Toledo, where she served as a reporter and anchor. While there, she wrote, shot, edited, as well as anchored a financial segment titled “Market Minute.”
In 2012, Leigh joined WTVG-13ABC as a reporter and anchor. She spent three years at the station. Furthermore, Leigh joined WNWO-NBC 24 in 2015 as an evening anchor. As well, she produced and hosted a weekly wellness segment.
