Lai Kuan-lin, also romanized also known as Lai Guanlin is a Taiwanese rapper, singer, and actor based in South Korea and China. He rose to fame through his appearance in the second season of Produce 101, where he finished as the seventh. Apart from that, Lai is also known for being a former member of the South Korean boy band Wanna One and one-half of the unit Wooseok X Kuanlin.
He was born and brought up in Taipei, Taiwan, and attended his high school at Lin-kou High School. However, information about his higher study has not been revealed. In 2016, he was recruited by Cube Entertainment during the Cube Star World Audition in Taiwan. The following year, he took part in the second season of Produce 101, where he represented Cube Entertainment and finished in seven positions. After the competition, he joined the project group Wanna One under YMC Entertainment.
At the end of 2017, Kuan -lin appeared in labelmate Jeon So-yeon’s music video for her single “Jelly”.Moreover, he also worked as an ambassador for several companies such as MGTV International APP, Chinese Social Assistance Foundation, and Green Carpet Action. Likewise, he also did some endorsements for various brands like KM Pharmaceutical (XYLIS), Perfect Diary, VIVLAS Lipstick, and Wolong Nuts. In 2019, Lai was cast in a Chinese drama called A Little Thing Called First Love. Besides that, he also worked together with Yoo Seon-ho and Ha Neul as new models for the TBJ clothing brand.
Guanlin also took part in a new group project alongside Pentagon’s Wooseok titled Wooseok x Kuanlin. He together with his group also released their debut extended play, 9801 on 11 March, with the title song “I’m A Star”. In 2020, he starred in the youth drama called Don’t Think About Interrupting My Studies, where he played the main lead alongside Li Landi. Prior to that, Guanlin also held his first fan meeting ‘Good Feeling’ on 6 April at Olympic Hall in Seoul followed by Bangkok, Singapore, Taipei, and last Hong Kong. As of 2021, he terminates his contract with Cube Entertainment.
