Lainey Wilson is an American country music singer and songwriter. Wilson began performing at a young age before moving to Nashville, Tennessee to seek a career in country music. Her debut album was published in 2014, followed by a second on the Lone Chief label in 2016. In 2019, she signed a publishing agreement and released an extended play (EP) that includes the song Things a Man Oughta Know.
The BBR Music Group released it as a single in 2020, and it finally went to number one on the American country songs list.
Lainey grew up in the little town of Baskin, Louisiana, which has a population of only 300 people. She was always interested in music when she was a child. Wilson also described her winning musical style as “bell-bottom country,” which Taste of Country described as a mix of pleasant listening and brutal truths.
In addition, she has been heavily influenced by Dolly Parton, paying tribute to her in the self-composed track WWDD (What Would Dolly Do). She also credits Lee Ann Womack as having had an influence on her career and music.
