Lisa Teachman Biography
Lisa Teachman is an American Emmy Award-winning meteorologist currently working as the Chief Meteorologist of the KSN Storm Track 3 Weather Team. Born and raised in the Witchita suburb of Haysville, she is excited to return home where she actually started her career in 1996 as a meteorology intern under the leadership of the station’s former Meteorologist, Dave Freeman.
She attended Witchita State University and Mississippi State University where she did her undergraduate studies. After she was done, she went to serve weather teams in Huntington, WV; Baltimore, MD; and Kansas City, MO. Most notably, she earned the American Meteorological Society’s “Seal of Approval” in 2018.
In addition, she was recognized by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for having the best weathercast in Wichita. She brings nearly 20 years of professional experience to her role at KSN News 3. Following some of her achievements, In 2011, she reported live from Joplin in the hours following the catastrophic EF5 tornado that struck the city.
She is one of the people who realized their passion as a youth. She discovered her passion for meteorology in her youth years. Her dad is a Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service volunteer. He assists in emergency communications for Sedgwick County. When off her duties, she loves taking her 3 dogs on walks with her husband or spending time indoors listening to country music and eating.
