Llarisa Abreu is an American award-winning meteorologist as well as a journalist. She is currently working at CBS 3 News, KNSD, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a weekday morning weather anchor. Abreu joined the station’s team in February 2020. Before joining CBS 3, she served as the weekend weather anchor and primary weekday fill-in anchor at NBC News in San Diego, California.
Llarisa started her broadcasting career at The Accuweather Network, serving as a bilingual on-air broadcaster. It was there that she forecasted all types of severe weather events, from hurricanes to the deadly tornadoes that tore through the central and southern parts of the U.S. in 2014 and the active 2016 winter season.
Moreover, during her time in California, she won her first Emmy for exceptional team coverage during the devastating 2017 Lilac Fire. In addition, she was nominated by The San Diego Union-Tribune as the Best Meteorologist in San Diego in 2018.
Abreu got her to start interning at NBC Miami and landed her first production job at Univision. Llarisa attended Mississippi State University and graduated with a degree in Geoscience in Applied Meteorology. Moreover, from 2007 to 2010, she attended Passaic County Community College and received an Associate of Arts in Communication and Media Studies. Abreu also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting Technology from Barry University in 2012.
