Lloyd Sowers Biography
Lloyd Sowers is an American journalist currently serving as a co-anchor for the FOX 13 News weekend editions, and he covers multiple stories for other FOX 13 newscasts. Sowers joined the FOX 13 team back in February 1987. In addition, Lloyd has covered various major stories including hurricanes Andrew, Elena, Opal, Hugo, and Charley.
Sowers has won various honors, including two Emmy awards and the Florida Bar Association Award for reporting legal issues. Additionally, he has received UPI, AP, and SPJ awards. Regarding his education, Lloyd received his degree in Journalism from West Virginia University and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He minored in Speech Communication and English.
Prior to joining the FOX 13 news family, Sowers worked at WINK-TV in Ft. Myers, Florida; WCLG in Morgantown, West Virginia; WDTV in Clarksburg, West Virginia; and WMSG in Oakland, Maryland. Furthermore, during his free time, Lloyd enjoys traveling, scuba diving, history, and old radios. Sowers, his wife Kim, and sons Jack and Gray reside in Tampa.
