Louis Aguirre Biography
Louis Aguirre is an American journalist who is currently working as a news anchor at WPLG Local 10 News Miami. He is a former anchor who covered the entertainment field for The Insider. Previously, he was the co-anchor of Deco Drive, a weeknight entertainment show on WSVN in Miami, Florida, the United States.
Aquirre is a proud graduate of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, where he graduated in 1984. He later joined the University of Miami and the Universite de Paris at La Sorbonne and holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in French.
His career kicked off at Telemundo in 1989 as a Spanish-language reporter, where he received his first Emmy Award nomination for a series chronicling the AIDS Crisis in America. Later on, in 1990, he joined South Florida’s ABC station, WPLG, as a reporter, later becoming a weekend anchor after scoring a coveted interview with Cuban president Fidel Castro.

He left South Florida for Hollywood to become a correspondent for Extra which led to a spot as a lead correspondent for A Current Affair. He was later appointed as the first co-host for Fox News Channel’s morning newscast Fox & Friends in 1994.
In addition, he voiced Cortez/Manny Cavez and the minor character Adrian in Funcom’s The Longest Journey adventure game, released in 1999. However, he returned to South Florida in 2003 as WSVN’s entertainment reporter and anchor for Deco Drive. Later in 2004, he won his first Emmy Award for his special report, “Miracles in the Making”.
He was also named one of the 25 most sexy bachelors in 2005 by People en Espanol magazine. Aguirre was also selected as South Florida’s American Idol insider in 2004 for his insight and commentary during each American Idol season.
However, he announced on Deco Drive with his co-host Lynn Martinez, that he will be leaving the show on August 22, 2014. On September 9, 2014, Aguirre replaced Kevin Frazier as co-host of The Insider alongside Thea Andrews.
However, the assignment ended in September 2017 when the show was canceled and he quickly relocated back to South Florida. He returned to WPLG to anchor the 4:30, and 5:30 pm newscasts and reports for the 11 pm show.
