Lynna Lai is an American journalist who is currently working as an anchor of the weekend editions of WKYC 3News at 6 pm and 11 pm. She is also the Weekend Evening Managing Editor and is an investigative reporter on the stations investigates team. Most notably, she joined the station in April 2012.
Lia comes to 3News from ABC News where she worked as a freelance correspondent. Born in Chicago, she attended a local high school and later attended and graduated from Louisiana State University. Furthermore, she earned the LSU Honor Scholarship and a National Merit Scholarship award.
After graduating, she began her broadcasting career at WMBD Channel 31, based in Peoria, Illinois. Later on, she moved to KGW and subsequently moved to WJW Channel 8. She went on to become the first Asian-American reporter in Cleveland at WJW-TV but later left to pursue anchoring and reporting jobs at WTSP-TV and WSB-TV in Atlanta.
Famous for her energetic personality, she has won 5 Emmy Awards for Best Spot News Reporting, and for her anchoring and reporting roles on 3News. She has also won Emmy nominations for her investigative reporting. In addition, she has received two Associated Press Awards for Best News Writing and Feature Reporting.
