Malachi Kirby Biography
Malachi Kirby is a British actor and writer who gained prominence through his in Roots, and the Black Mirror episode “Men Against Fire”. He also won a BAFTS for his performance in Small Axe: Mangrove (2020).
Raised in Patmore Estate in Battersea, he attended Southfields Academy. He was originally into literature, he discovered acting in year nine through a course at the Battersea Art Center. Kirby was then admitted to the Identify School of Acting in 2007.
After his studies, he began his career in theatre. At the time he was shortlisted for Outstanding Newcomer at the 2011 Evening Standard Theatre Awards. To be specific, this was after appearing in a production of Mogadishu. Furthermore, he appeared in a number of television shows and films, including a stint on EastEnders, among others.
He landed the role of Darcus Howe in the Small Axe anthology which premiered in 2020 and he won the 2021 British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actor. In September 2021, it was announced that he would star opposite Delroy Lindo as both Mr. Nancy’s sons Charlie and Spider in Anansi Boys.
