Maria Genero Biography
Maria Genero is an American journalist and weather anchor working for WGRZ in Buffalo, New York. Before WGRZ, Maria worked at WYRK in the year 1984 as the station’s weekend weathercaster. Genero also worked for WCIX as the chief weather fill-in anchor for Mark McEwen at CBS This Morning.
Maria attended the University of Mississippi Broadcast Meteorology. She started work at the Columbia Broadcasting System affiliated with Buffalo as a weekend weathercaster. Additionally, in the summer of 1989, Maria moved to Miami, Florida, to work for WCIX, the CBS-owned and operated station as the evening 6 and 11 p.m. meteorologist.
Soon after, Genero was hired by Fox News in New York City as a host of “Good Day New York.” Maia is also featured in the movies Striptease and Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies. Moreover, in 2001, she moved back home and was hired by WGRZ as a weather forecaster starting in 2006. Currently, she serves the station as a weekend weathercaster.
Moreover, Maria split her duties into segments of 5, 5:30, 6, 10, and 11 pm weekly newscasts of Channel 2 with Heather Waldman. As of August, she was part of the three early evening newscasts on a Monday-through-Friday shift. She has remained on the weekend edition of the morning program “Daybreak” up to date. In addition, she is involved in the early evening newscasts Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
