Mark Baden Biography
Mark Baden is a veteran award-winning journalist who works as the chief meteorologist for WISN-TV in Milwaukee. He began working with the station in 1997. Baden also holds the distinction of being the station’s oldest employee.
In terms of his education, Baden enrolled at Western Illinois University in 1988 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in 1992. Mark worked as the head meteorologist at WOI-TV in Des Moines for two years and ten months before moving to Milwaukee.
Mark also hosts a number of fundraising events for Children’s Hospital, including the Sugarplum Luncheon and the Evening of Elegance. Similarly, since 2005, he has hosted both the golf excursion with his sports director, Dan Needles. Baden has also served as honorary captain of the Denis Sullivan, a schooner moored in Milwaukee, for Discovery World.
Mark has won numerous weather honors over his career as a journalist, including a local and regional Emmy for flood coverage in 2008. In 2009, he was also awarded the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association’s best weathercast award.
Furthermore, Milwaukee Magazine rated The WeatherWatch, 12 crew, as the best accurate local forecaster. Baden also obtained the mark of approval from the American Meteorological Society, as well as the seal of Certified Broadcast Meteorology. Besides, Baden teaches a Meteorology course at Concordia University in the spring.
