Mark Wahlberg is an American Actor, Producer, former rapper, and restaurateur. Wahlberg is also known by his stage name, Marky Mark from his music career with the group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
Born in 1971 in Massachusetts, Mark embarked on an early crime life. By the time he was free from prison, his older brother Donnie had risen to stardom. Donnie was one of five fresh-faced members of the pop band New Kids on the Block. He then soon turned around to help his young brother realize his own niche in music.
Whatever Mark missed in singing, was complemented by his charisma and good looks. Standing by the stage name Marky Mark performed with a DJ and backup dancers.
In 1991, he managed to record a debut album, Music for the People with the help of his brother Donnie. After realizing the success of his hit singles ‘Good Vibrations’ and ‘Wildside’.
Riding to be the new pop music trend in town, Wahlberg and his rock-hard physique became more known after signing a 2-year contract with the designer Calvin Klein. They were to model with the Calvin Klein Underwear.
By 1993, Wahlberg’s personal life was seriously questioned after his accusation of condoning unconcealed remarks made on a British talk show by reggae singer Shabba Ranks. Adding to Funky Bunch’s disappointing sales on his second album, You Gotta Beleive, Mark’s music career was succumbing to death.

He made a debut with the films Renaissance Man (1994), and Fear in 1996. Mark also received lots of praise for his performance as porn actor Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights. In the early 2000s, Wahlberg ventured into big-screen movies such as The Perfect Storm (2000), Planet of the Apes (2001), and The Italian Job (2003).
From his excellent performance, Mark was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for casting as a police officer in the crime drama, The Departed (2006). 4 years later, Mark was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for the biographical sports drama The Fighter. In this film, he is featured as Micky Ward.
From 2010, Mark landed successful comedy roles in The Other Guys (2010), Ted (2012), its 2015 sequel, Daddy’s Home (2015), and its 2017 sequel. Adding to all these achievements, he also played the role of a protagonist in the Transformers live-action film franchise (2014, 2017). In 2017, Mark was the world’s best-paid actor.
As a producer, Wahlberg has also served as the executive producer of five HBO series: the comedy-drama Entourage (2004–2011), the period crime drama Boardwalk Empire (2010–2014), the comedy-dramas How to Make It in America (2010–2011), Ballers (2015–2019), and the documentary McMillions (2020).
Mark is the co-owner of the Wahlburgers chain and has co-featured in the reality TV series about it. In 2010, Wahlberg received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
