Meaghan Thomas is an American journalist and entertainment TV host who presently works as a Morning Meteorologist at WKRN News 2 in Nashville, Tennessee. She began working for News 2 in July 2020. Every morning from 4:30 to 7 a.m., 11 a.m., and whenever severe weather breaks, Thomas forecasts can be seen.
Meaghan is from Johns Creek, Georgia, but she is no stranger to the weather in Tennessee. She has vivid recollections of visiting her mother’s hometown of Shelbyville as a child. Her cousins and uncle currently live in Christiana and Murfreesboro, respectively. Her home is away from home in Tennessee.
Thomas graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast News and Geography in 2012. She joined the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association as an undergraduate. She’s also a storm spotter and storm chaser with certification.

Similarly, Thomas worked as a meteorologist at WCBI, a CBS station in Columbus, MS, throughout her graduate studies. She assisted in covering the tornado outbreak in Mississippi on April 28, 2014.
She joined the ABC affiliate in Birmingham in 2014 after leaving Mississippi. For six years, she covered everything from tornadoes to ice storms for the amazing people of Central Alabama as their weekend and morning meteorologist at ABC 33/40.

When she wasn’t on TV, she was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alabama, where she taught Fundamentals of Electronic News.
Meaghan also holds the renowned Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval on her resume. She is not only a meteorologist who can convey the weather, but she is also a meteorologist who understands the science behind it.
Thomas’s passions, other than meteorology, are raising awareness for the Hard of Hearing, Deaf, and Deaf communities. She happily uses bi-lateral hearing aids and wants to inspire people to embrace their differences. Before the end of 2021, her non-profit “The Heart of Hearing” and children’s book “Heart of Hearing” will be live.
Thomas also enjoys working out, spoiling her Pomeranian, Daisy Diana, and rooting for the Crimson Tide, but she is excited to return to her roots and support for the Tennessee Vols.
