Michelle Rotella is an American meteorologist, actor, model, dancer, and stylist currently working as a senior broadcast meteorologist at AccuWeather Network. She joined the AccuWeather Network in April 2021. Previously, she served at Fox 5 DC as a meteorologist from August 2018 to March 2021.
Rotella was born and raised in the Gaithersburg and Fredrick, Maryland areas. Her love and passion for weather began when she watched The Weather Channel with her mother when she was a child. Michelle graduated from her high school education at the age of sixteen. Later on, in 2004, she attended Fredrick Community College and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Arts and Sciences.
In addition, she chased her dreams of becoming a meteorologist by pursuing her undergraduate degree at Florida State University, based in Tallahassee, Florida. At the university, she participated in the student-run weather show broadcast live Monday to Friday throughout Tallahassee and Panama City. While at FSU, Michelle interned at both the ABC and CBS stations, WTXL and WCTV. She graduated in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and a minor in math and physics.
After Rotella graduated, in December 2009, she joined the weather team at WeatherBug in Germantown, Maryland, forecasting national weather and producing weather graphics and web content. In October 2010, she returned to Florida and joined WOKV Newstalk Radio in Jacksonville, where she served as the afternoon news producer and anchored a live newscast on weeknights.

Additionally, Michelle left WOKV and joined WNEP in Moosic, Pennsylvania in September 2011, where she served as the weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter. At the station, she gained experience in forecasting snow, nor’easters, hurricanes, and other extreme weather. In September of 2013, Rotella joined WTXL ABC27, where she served as a weekday morning weather broadcaster. Later on, in November 2014, she accepted a weekday weather position at HMTV6 based in Hagerstown, Maryland, where she was quickly offered and accepted the role of chief meteorologist.
Moreover, Michelle’s dream of working in a large market and a big city finally came true when she joined WCCB, Charlotte CW, in Queen City. She joined WCCB in October 2015 and left in November 2017 to join Fox 45 (WBFF-TV Baltimore) as a freelance meteorologist. She served at the station from November 2017 to June 2018. From March 2019 to July 2019, she served as a freelance meteorologist at SBG Harrisburg Sales and Marketing before joining Fox 5 DC in August 2018 until March 2021.
Furthermore, Michelle was a contestant on America’s Next Weathermen on TBS Network. She completed all eight episodes of the show which had 12 contestants through varied challenges to compete for the job of America’s next great weathercaster. She has also trained in different dancing genres such as Breakdance, contemporary, and hip-hop. In addition, Rotella has also worked as a model for commercials.
During her free time, Michelle likes to work out, watch movies, entertain friends, go club dancing, and go storm chasing. She is also a huge college and NFL football fan, cheering on her Florida State Seminoles, along with her father’s Washington Redskins and her step-father’s Pittsburgh Steelers.
