Mike Greenberg Biography
Mike Robinette Greenberg is a television anchor, television show host, radio show host for ESPN and ABC, and novelist. Previously, Mike hosted SportsCenter, ESPN Radio SportsCenter, and Mike and Mike in the Morning with Mike Golic.
Robinette was born and raised in New York, United States. He attended and graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1985. After that, Greenberg joined Northwestern University, where he graduated in 1989. Prior to joining ESPN in 1996, Mike worked as an anchor, reporter, and host for a live call show at CLTV. He also worked for WSCR-Radio as a reporter and talk show host. In addition, to his role there he also wrote a weekly syndicated column for the California-based Copley News Service. Apart from working at WSCR, Mike also worked for the Sports Channel in Chicago. Early, he served as a sports anchor and reporter at WMAQ-AM in Chicago.
For almost two decades, sports fans woke up with Greenberg as half of ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike, with co-host Mike Golic. He later anchored SportsCenter for many years, even long after Mike & Mike launched on January 3, 2000. Greenberg and Golic were inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2016 and the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2018. From 2007 to 2008 Greenberg worked at ABC as the host of Duel and co-hosted Battle of the Network Stars with Joe Tessitore. He also appeared along with his radio partner Mike Golic, on the soap opera Guiding Light as reported on ESPNradio.com. Furthermore, Mike has anchored ESPN’s morning show Get Up since 2018, and also anchors NBA coverage on NBA Countdown.
Moreover, Greenberg is also an author who published his first book, Why My Wife Thinks I’m an Idiot, spent five weeks on The New York Times Best Sellers List, and was nominated for a Quill Award. The book describes his account of his life as a sports fan and husband. In 2010, Greenberg, along with Golic, released Mike & Mike’s Rules for Sports and Life, which reached number 3 on The New York Times Best Sellers List. Further, he debuted his first novel, All You Could Ask For, as a tribute after a family friend, Heidi Armitage, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.
