Mitch Jacob Biography
Mitch Jacob is an American journalist who is currently working as a news manager at ABC15 Arizona. Most notably, he began his career while attending high school in Rapid City, South Dakota. His passion for a good story began when he produced a 30-minute documentary on teenage drinking and driving.
During his more than 40 years as a journalist, he has worked in several cities heading up newsrooms. His most recent being in Nashville, Washington, DC, and Columbus, OH. In addition, he spent time working at the Valley as a news director for another local station.
In his time as a news manager, he has been involved in coverage for several major stories, including the DC inauguration riots, and the Congressional softball game shooting, among others. Throughout his career, he has been honored with awards and nominations. While working at Phoenix, he directed the continuous coverage of what was one of the worst wildfires in Arizona history–the Rodeo-Chediski Fire.
Even after more than 4 decades in the news business, he continues his intense drive for covering local news with balanced journalism that demands the truth. During his free time, he enjoys home renovation, traveling, and hanging out with his two rescue dogs Murphy and Macy.
He is excited to return to the Valley and says working at ABC15 with such talented award-winning journalists who share similar values is a dream come true.
