Monica Padman is an American podcaster, actress, and producer who is best known for co-creating and editing the podcast Armchair Expert alongside Dax Shepard. She has also appeared in films and television shows including CHiPs, The Good Place, Rutherford Falls, and Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television.

Padman was inspired by the show Friends and the film Good Will Hunting, driving him to become an actor when she was in eighth grade. She then began studying theatre in high school where she was also a cheerleader and took advanced placement classes. In college, Monica double-majored in theatre and public relations. She completed an internship at the Radmin Company while in college.

In 2011, Monica relocated to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She trained in improvisational comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade and hassled herself by babysitting and working at the front desk at SoulCycle. Monica booked Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard through social circles, and later booked an acting job on an episode of House of Lies, coincidentally playing an assistant to Bell’s character.

Subsequently, Kristen hired Padman to occasionally babysit for them, eventually becoming their full-time nanny. Her role gradually grew into serving as an assistant to Bell and later became a professional partner to both Kristen and Dax. As of 2019, Monica was Bell’s chief of staff.
