Nancy Loo is an American Emmy Award-winning journalist currently working as a reporter and fill-in anchor for WGN-Tv since joining the station on June 1, 2010. She is also a West Coast Bureau Correspondent for NewsNation in Los Angeles. Before joining WGN, Nancy worked for Fox News Chicago as a co-anchor at 5 a.m. and FOX News at Noon. Prior to this, she took her own news assignments to England, China, Japan, Taiwan, North and South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines.
Loo attended the University of Oregon where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. She is fluent in Cantonese and has studied Japanese, German, and American Sign Language.
Loo got her first broadcasting job after graduating from the University of Oregon School of Journalism with TVB Pearl, an English-language channel based in Hing Kong. She worked as an anchor, traveling extensively to cover news in the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Later on, Loo became a freelance reporter for ABC radio, reporting on major news events in South Korea, Japan, and North Korea. In addition, she anchored an English-language newscast on Japan Cable TV before moving to New York City in 1989. Nancy spent two years working as a freelance reporter for News 12 Long Island in 1989 and 1990. Afterward, she took a two-year break to raise her first child.

In 1992, Loo became one of the original “video journalists” on NY1 (New York One), the all-news cable channel for New York City owned by Time Warner. In this position, Loo covered the health beat, working as a videographer and shooting her own stand-ups in front of the camera. She also worked as a fill-in anchor, winning the Women in Cable National Anchor of the Year Award for her performance anchoring non-stop from 4:00 p.m. to 1:15 a.m. on the day of the World Trade Center bombing in 1993.
In 1994, WABC-TV hired Loo as a general assignment reporter later creating an on-set daily health news segment for her on the early morning newscast. During the early 1996 shooting medical reports, Nancy spent a week in London. A few months later, she was promoted to co-anchor in the morning and midday newscasts. In March 1997, Loo experienced labor pains during a morning newscast, but finished the show before and drove to a hospital in Westchester County where she delivered her second child. Her newscast won the Emmy award for best morning newscast in New York that year.
In 2001, Nancy moved to Chicago to serve as a co-anchor of the early morning newscast on WFLD-TV, a Fox-owned station. She was further named the co-anchor of the midday and weekend newscasts. She left the station in 2010.

On June 1, 2010, Nancy joined WGN-TV in Chicago, Illinois as a primary reporter on the morning and midday newscasts. She is also a fill-in anchor on the morning, midday, and weekend newscasts while frequently reporting special segments for the afternoon and evening newscasts.
Nancy is also a frequent guest on the webcast ChicagonistaLIVE!, produced by www.Chicagonista.com and billed as Chicago’s first “Social Talk Show”. This is an innovative and interactive program featuring four social media mavens discussing Chicago-centric hot topics and tech news. On May 12, 2020, she announced she will be moving to Los Angeles to join the WGN America news show NewsNation as the West Coast bureau correspondent, making her last appearance on May 20, 2020.
