Patrick Mahomes is an American football player who takes the position of a quarterback for the team, Kansas City Chiefs, in the National Football League (NFL). He is also famous for being the son of former Major League Baseball player, Pat Mahomes.
He attended Whitehouse High School in Texas where he played baseball and basketball while still getting deeper into American Football. After his high school graduation, Mahomes joined Texas Tech University. He started his college football career in a match when he played against the ‘Oklahoma State Cowboys’ of Oklahoma State University. In his team, he was playing as a substitute for the injured quarterback player, Davis Matthew Webb.
However, in his junior school, Mahomes led the NCAA Division players in several attributes; passing yards(5,052 yards) and passing touchdowns (53 touchdowns) to mention but a few. Patrick spent his rookie season as the substitute player to Alex Smith. Moreover, after the latter was sold to the Washington Redskins in the following season, Mahomes was mentioned as the starter. That very season, Mahomes threw for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
He set the record as the only quarterback in history to throw for over 5,000 yards in a season. This is a target he achieved both in college and the NFL. He also joined stars such as Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in holding the records of throwing at least 50 touchdown passes in a single season.

The Kansas City Chiefs picked Mahomes 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, and he made his professional football debut and first start against the Denver Broncos in December of that year. In 2018, he was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player after becoming only the second quarterback in NFL history to throw for 50 touchdowns and 5,000 yards in a single season. After guiding the Chiefs to a 12-4 record, Mahomes became the first Chiefs player to win the league MVP award.
Mahomes made his first Super Bowl appearance in February 2020, with the Chiefs defeating the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 to win the championship. He was voted the MVP of Super Bowl LIV, and later that year, he signed a 10-year contract with the Chiefs worth up to $503 million, reputedly the most lucrative contract in sports history.
Mahomes and the Chiefs have been selected to play in Super Bowl LV in 2021 for the second year in a row. However, they were defeated 31-9 by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
