Phil Schwarz Biography
Phil Schwarz is a renowned American meteorologist currently working for Chicago’s No.1 television station news channel ABC 7 since 1995. Schwartz forecasts the weather on the weekends at 5 and 10 p.m. and also fills in during the week.
When not covering weather, Phil reports on environmental and weather-related stories. He is one of the ABC 7 meteorologists who hold ab Emmy Award for their outstanding severe weather coverage.
Schwartz is a proud graduate of Pennsylvania State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. In addition, he holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal as well.
After his graduation, Phil started his broadcast career in his hometown of Flint, Michigan, where he was the weekend meteorologist for WJRT-Tv, the local ABC affiliate. At the same time, Schwarz owned and operated a private weather forecasting service with several clients through the Midwest.
Prior to joining ABC 7, Phil was the primary meteorologist at WNYW-TV in New York, New York, reporting the station’s weather for their 10 p.m. newscasts. Before that, Phil was a weekend meteorologist at KSTP-TV, the ABC affiliate in the Twin Cities.
Schwarz is a board member of the Les Turner ALS Foundation, a charity that helps raise funds for those afflicted with ALS and the research being conducted at Northwestern University. All the funds collected by the charity stay in the Chicago area. In addition, he emcees the ALS Walk for Life, which is held in late September every year.
