Rick Manning is an American journalist currently working as a broadcaster in Major League Baseball. He was a center fielder and played for the Cleveland Indians from 1975 to 1983 and Milwaukee Brewers from 1983 to 1987. Since 1990, Rick has worked as a color commentator for Cleveland Indians telecast.
In one of the most memorable images in Cleveland sports history where the Indians defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0, and Rick caught Ernie Whitt’s fly ball, on May 15, 1981, the final out of Len Barker’s perfect game. Rick has the longest tenure of any television announcer in team history. He appears covering Tribe games on Bally Sports Great Lakes and sometimes provides color commentary on regional broadcasts for Major League Baseball at FOX.
Rick attended LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls and became a fan of the National League. Though people from his hometown would travel to see the Indians play, Rick rooted for the Cardinals.
