Rob Elgas is an American reporter currently working for ABC 7 in Chicago as well as an anchor for the 4 pm news. Elgas joined the ABC 7 Eyewitness News team on July 7, 2015. Additionally, in May 2016, he became the co-anchor of AMC 7’s top-rated 4 p.m. weekday news alongside Judy Hsu.

Rob attended and graduated from the University of Illinois, where he specialized in Agricultural Communication and Journalism, before landing his first job in television. He is also a member of NAHJ, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Rob joined the ABC 7Eyewitness News team as a reporter and fill-in anchor on July 7, 2015. Luckily, in May 2016, the veteran news anchor and reporter became the co-anchor of ABC’s top-rated 4 pm weekend news alongside Judy Hsu.

Elgas has traveled to Washington, D.C. for the State of the Union, and covered breaking news in California and Texas for ABC 7. However, his most memorable assignment was covering the historic World Series win by the Chicago Cubs. He later returned to Chicago in 2012 and worked for ABC 7 in El Paso, Texas. Elgas was also a weekend anchor before co-anchoring the morning show from 2000 to 2002. He started his broadcasting career behind the lens in Champaign-Urbana, where he served as a photographer for WICD-TV.
