Royal Norman is an American meteorologist currently serving as chief Meteorologist for 3TV. He works on a weekday night Good Evening Arizona, 3TV News at 8, 3TV News at 9, and 3TV News at 10. He has also served at 3TV as the weekend meteorologist, receiving his American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for both television and radio broadcasting.

However, during his first 12 years at 3TV, Norman covered a live tornado from the station helicopter, was on the air as the under-construction of the Mill Avenue Bridge collapsed into the rough floodwaters of the Salt River, covered the eruption of Mount Kilauea in Hawaii, attended the 50th-anniversary service at the USS Arizona Memorial in 1991, and was on the initial crew of Good Morning Arizona.
In 1996, Norman and his family moved to Atlanta, where he was Chief Meteorologist at WXIA-TV. His favorite part of living along the east coast though was searching for hurricanes – something that never occurred in Arizona.
Moving back to 3TV in 2001, Norman is now the Chief Meteorologist for the Arizona Family. He also serves weekday nights on Good Evening Arizona, 3TV News on 8, 3TV News on 9, and 3TV News on 10.
Norman was accepted to the Southwest Rocky Mountain NATAS Silver Circle in 2010 and was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award by the Arizona State University College of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning in 2017. In addition, Royal won 7 Emmys for weather reporting.
His profession has also created an opportunity to reconnect with the roots of his school. Randy Cerveny, professor of meteorology and climatology at the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning, has teamed up with Norman and 3TV to provide expertise over the years.
